Connecting Classrooms through CREST

British Science Assoication - CREST -  new British Council programme to promote international schools' partnerships through their Connecting Classrooms programme and CREST Awards.

This is a great opportunity for schools as there are some fantastic learning benefits to this type of partnership, especially when looking at global issues such as Climate change where a real life context from more effected areas can be very beneficial in promoting understanding of the impacts and challenges involved.

As well as the British Council resource - Climate4Classrooms - and our own specially adapted Tree for Life challenge, there are lots of CPD units and workshops available. There is also the £1500 grant for a teacher exchange visit once the schools have shown that they are working in partnership; working together on a CREST Award or completion of the Tree for Life project will be accepted as evidence of this and will qualify teachers to receive the grant.

The partnership itself is organised and fully supported by the British Council; all we have committed to doing is promoting this to our schools. It would be great to have your thoughts on the programme, and your support in finding schools for our pilot in Bangladesh, where we have 30+ schools ready to go (the majority of these are secondary). The programme is a global one, and therefore applications for partner schools are not limited to Bangladesh.
